1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SafeStop, including the website at trysafestop.com, the web application at safestop.app, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

SafeStop is an informational tool that provides safety scores for nearby locations — including gas stations, restaurants, rest stops, hotels, and convenience stores — based on publicly available FBI and NIBRS crime data. SafeStop also provides map display and turn-by-turn navigation features powered by Google Maps.

SafeStop is a web-based application and does not require installation. No account creation is required to use the core features of the Service.

3. Informational Purposes Only

THE SAFETY SCORES AND INFORMATION PROVIDED BY SAFESTOP ARE FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY AND DO NOT CONSTITUTE PROFESSIONAL SAFETY, SECURITY, OR LEGAL ADVICE.

Specifically:

• Safety scores are derived from historical crime statistics aggregated at the county or zip code level and do not reflect real-time conditions at any specific location.
• A high safety score does not guarantee that a location is safe. A low score does not mean a location is dangerous.
• Crime data may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate. FBI and NIBRS data is updated periodically and may not reflect recent incidents.
• Always use your own judgment when choosing a location to stop. Trust your instincts.
• In an emergency, call 911 immediately. Do not rely on SafeStop in an emergency situation.

4. Community Content

SafeStop allows users to submit anonymous traveler ratings and community safety reports for locations ("Community Content"). By submitting Community Content, you:

• Represent that your submission is truthful and based on your genuine experience or observation
• Grant SafeStop a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to display and aggregate your submission as part of the Service
• Agree not to submit false, misleading, defamatory, or malicious reports
• Understand that Community Content is not verified by SafeStop and is provided for informational purposes only

SafeStop reserves the right to remove any Community Content that violates these Terms or that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be harmful, inaccurate, or inappropriate.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use SafeStop to:

• Submit false, fraudulent, or deliberately misleading safety reports or ratings
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Attempt to circumvent, reverse-engineer, or exploit any part of the Service
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service without our written permission
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Harass, harm, or infringe on the rights of any person or entity

6. Third-Party Services and Content

SafeStop integrates with third-party services including Google Maps Platform and the FBI Crime Data Explorer. Your use of these services through SafeStop is subject to the terms and privacy policies of those respective providers. SafeStop is not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or content of third-party services.

Navigation directions are provided by Google Maps and are subject to Google's Terms of Service. SafeStop does not guarantee the accuracy, safety, or legality of any navigation route provided.

7. Intellectual Property

SafeStop and its original content, features, design, and functionality are owned by SafeStop and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, patent (patent pending), and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of the Service or its content without our express written permission.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAFESTOP DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

SAFESTOP DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. SAFESTOP DOES NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR TIMELINESS OF ANY SAFETY SCORES OR CRIME DATA PRESENTED THROUGH THE SERVICE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SAFESTOP AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

IN NO EVENT SHALL SAFESTOP'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00).

SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES OR LIABILITIES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SafeStop and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

11. Changes to the Service

SafeStop reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of SafeStop after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Sarasota County, Florida, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
